What You Need Before Starting

The Onyx Contract sits behind Mike's jailbreak sequence, so prepare the escape items before making repeated trips to Jail. Your quest tracker asks for one Spoon, but the digging minigame can break Spoons during the escape.

How to Find Mike in Jail

Police auctions appear in the best auction area your current progression can support. Check that area for an auction marked with caution tape, open it and take a Redacted item. When the police begin chasing you, stop running and let them arrest you.

• Go to the highest area you can currently afford to use consistently.
• Scan its auction buildings for police tape rather than checking every normal auction.
• Open the Police auction and pick up a Redacted item to raise your wanted level.
• Let the pursuing police catch you so you are transported to Jail.
• Talk to Mike immediately and accept Jailbreak Supplies before the Jail visit ends.

How to Break Mike Out of Jail

Jailbreak Supplies asks you to find a Spoon and a Home Carpet. Once both objectives are ready, trigger another arrest through a Police auction, return to Mike and place the carpet in the cell to begin digging.

• Farm Spoons in Junk Yard; lowering Luck can make it easier to see common auction items instead of rarer replacements.
• Farm the Home Carpet in Back Alley with a useful Luck setup equipped.
• Carry several spare Spoons even after the tracker marks its one-Spoon objective complete.
• Get arrested again, talk to Mike and place the Home Carpet at the digging point.
• Complete the dirt-block minigame, replacing broken Spoons until the tunnel opens.
• Talk to Mike outside the tunnel to finish the escape and receive the permanent +7% Luck reward.

How to Unlock the Onyx Conversation

After the escape, Mike moves to Back Alley near the graffiti and auction area. Talk to him and begin his Bank Heist quest. You only need to open that quest line for the Onyx conversation to appear; the four-C4 heist does not need to be completed first.

• Follow Mike's post-escape cutscene or head to his Back Alley position.
• Start the Bank Heist conversation, then speak to Mike again.
• Equip your strongest Luck accessories and activate drinks before choosing the Onyx option.
• Reach at least 1,575 displayed Luck and accept The Onyx Contract.
• Check that all ten objectives appear in the tracker before opening more auctions.

Complete Onyx Contract Checklist

The contract covers the full standard mutation ladder from Silver through Rainbow. In total, you need to find 337 qualifying items after accepting the quest.

Best Way to Farm the Mutation Checklist

Use an area you can clear repeatedly without draining your cash. Business Bay works for wealthy players because every auction can also produce valuable side finds, but a cheaper area is better when high bids would interrupt the grind.

• Equip gavels that improve the mutation currently falling behind on your tracker.
• Keep a mixed set of Silver-through-Rainbow gavels instead of building only for the rarest mutation.
• Use Luck drinks during focused sessions rather than letting their timers run while sorting your shop.
• Check the tracker after each group of auctions and swap gavels as objectives finish.
• Sell or store completed mutation tiers quickly so your vehicle and shop do not become the bottleneck.
• Keep bidding discipline: the contract counts finds, not profit, but running out of cash stops both.

Claim Onyx and Use It in Auctions

When all ten counters are complete, return to Mike in Back Alley and claim The Onyx Contract. Onyx then joins the mutation pool in the same auction areas where you find standard mutations and applies a 175x value multiplier.

• Confirm the quest tracker shows every objective complete before leaving your farming area.
• Talk to Mike and claim the reward rather than assuming completion unlocks it automatically.
• Keep your Luck setup equipped when hunting for the first Onyx item; unlocking it does not make it common.
• Use the calculator to compare an Onyx item's final value after markup, condition and any additional mutations.

Onyx Quest Mistakes to Avoid

Most failed attempts come from entering Jail unprepared or starting a long farming session before the contract is active. Check each gate in order and you will avoid repeating the slowest parts.

• Looking for Police auctions in an area above or below your current best affordable tier.
• Running from the police after gaining the wanted level instead of allowing the arrest.
• Returning to Jail with only one Spoon and losing it during the digging minigame.
• Trying to finish the entire Bank Heist before checking Mike's Onyx conversation.
• Using Luck drinks before you are ready to talk to Mike or begin auction farming.
• Farming mutation items before confirming The Onyx Contract is visible in the tracker.
